Light and Landscape, 13th April , Gemeinde Planegg, Pasinger Str 8, 82152, Planegg ( Munich ) Germany.

This exhibition is a collection of drawings and paintings exploring landscapes and light of Germany , Scotland and from travels around the world. Whether the reflections of the Alps in Starnbergersee , or the imposing mountains of Glencoe in Scotland, one thing that always inspires me is the way weather and nature changes the landscape and the way natural features can be drastically altered by seasons or the light at various times of the day. Depending on the sky, the wind, the time of day or season of the year, the same scene can be calming or disturbing, cold or warm, dark or light.

Vernissage on Friday 13th April at 19.00pm

From the cool moss underfoot, to the warm baking sun on the slopes of the vinyard. From the feel and texture of the vine leaves, to the tranquility of the air, these works reflect many different aspects, both figurative and intuative.

Norn. ( Seeing the way) , 10th August - 15 Nov 2006, Bavarian Nordic Corporate headquarters, Copenhagen, Denmark. and, January - 1 April 2006, Bavarian Nordic Berlin, Germany.

ENGLISH

An exhibition of 15 paintings in the Corporate headquarters of Bavarian Nordic in Denmark. This exhibition includes many paintings from the successful Munich exhibition and 5 new paintings, following on from the style of the previous exhibition, but developing, discovering some more figurative memories. Some of these new paintings are more easily recognisable as actual scenes and events, but the texture and structure of the paint makes them no less true to the feelings and experiences of past experiences on which they were based.

This exhibition can only be viewed by invitation. Visitors must be accompanied by a member of staff at all times.

How many times do you come back from a holiday with too many photos to ever look at again, I for one certainly have, but close your eyes, and think of your last holiday, think of not just the picture postcard, think of the smells, the sounds, the way the wind moved, the way the waves on the sea changed as they came towards the shore, the sound that shells make under your feet. Think about the sound of the grass, the smell of the resin filled trees, or the sound of cicadas. Think about what heat tastes like in your dry mouth, what snow smells like, think about how water sounds when you are immersed in it. Some of these things are physically possible, some you just have to let your imagination tell you.

This series of paintings explores a relationship with my own memories. Memories that I would normally consign to a photo in an album, or stored in a computer, have stuck with me and I have tried to bring across the emotions and feelings that these visions of past experiences give to me through painting.

Primarily about nature and the natural world, I have tried to look at small things that collectively make up the bigger picture, one small part of the whole. By doing so I hope to stimulate your own imaginations and memories and that is the primary purpose of this exhibition.

When you look at these paintings, by all means, look at them as coming from my memories and experiences. But far more important to me is that you also apply them to your own thoughts, your own memories and experiences; ask yourself what these paintings mean to you . The same image may look different to whoever is looking at it. Some might see water, some an arctic sun, both are quite valid interpretations because in reality we all have different ways of seeing, and what I write about these paintings is just one persons opinion. It is for this reason that I have called this exhibition, ‘the way I see'

A submission of four works following a theme of forrest.
